How to Play TrapMove

COMPLETE RULES

Outlast every other Player.

TrapMove is a 2–4 player strategy game. Use movement chips to cross the board. The chip you use stays on the square you leave, permanently changing the available paths. The last Player with a legal move wins.

Set up

  1. Open the 10 × 10 board and place all 100 movement chips in the drawstring bag.
  2. Each Player chooses a game piece and draws three movement chips.
  3. Everyone rolls the die. Reroll ties for the highest roll until one Player is first.
  4. Beginning with the first Player and continuing clockwise, place each game piece on any unoccupied square.

On your turn

  1. Choose one of your three movement chips.
  2. Place it on the square your game piece is leaving.
  3. Move exactly as that chip allows and land on an empty square.
  4. Draw a replacement chip so you again hold three.

Placed chips stay for the rest of the game. A Player may not land on a placed chip or another Player. Only Move three may jump.

THE FIVE MOVEMENTS

Know every path.

Move one movement chip

Move one

Move one space in any direction to an available square.

Move two movement chip

Move two

Move any number of squares horizontally or vertically. Do not jump over a Player or placed chip.

Move three movement chip

Move three

Move two squares in one direction and one square perpendicular. This is the only move that may jump; land on an empty square.

Move four movement chip

Move four

Move any number of squares diagonally. Do not jump over a Player or placed chip.

Move five movement chip

Move five

Move any number of squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Do not jump over a Player or placed chip.

Getting trapped and winning

If none of the three chips in your hand provides a legal destination, you are trapped and out of the game. Your game piece remains an occupied square. The last Player who can make a legal move wins.
