“‌Trapped Move” Concept July 2020

‌ In the world of IT and e-commerce, where websites, Amazon FBA, and eBay stores were our daily playgrounds, a desire emerged for something beyond the digital realm. A longing for a tangible creation, a product of our own, one that could bridge the gap between the virtual and the real. It was this yearning that sparked the idea of creating something special – a board game that would not only entertain but also challenge the minds of players.

As tech-savvy entrepreneurs with a knack for innovation, the idea of crafting a board game felt like uncharted territory. We were no strangers to the world of online retail arbitrage and product selling, but the prospect of designing a game from scratch was a thrilling endeavor. Discussions with my wife, a fellow enthusiast of games and toys, led to brainstorming sessions where we explored various concepts.

We knew we wanted to create a game that was accessible, easy to learn, and, most importantly, fun – the kind of games we enjoyed playing with our family and friends. It was during a road trip to Saint Pete Beach, amidst the sun and surf, that the spark of inspiration truly ignited.

My wife reminisced about an episode of the TV show Survivor, where contestants stood on a grid, flipping tiles and strategically moving to avoid getting trapped until only one remained standing. This memory triggered a cascade of ideas. Another show we both loved, Big Brother, featured a competition called “Knights Move,” where houseguests navigated a grid like chess knights, seeking to outmaneuver each other while preserving available moves.

These recollections coalesced into the concept of “TrapMove,” a game that would blend the strategic complexity of chess moves with an element of randomness and unpredictability. In “TrapMove,” players would draw from a deck of cards, each providing them with three random moves out of five possible options inspired by chess.

The game board, a 10×10 grid, would host 100 unique moves in total, with 20 of each type. Each move, such as “Chip Move 1” or “Chip Move 2,” added its own layer of strategy and excitement to the gameplay.

Join us as we take you on a journey through the creation and development of “TrapMove,” a board game born out of a passion for games, competition, and the thrill of innovation. Discover how this concept evolved into a captivating game, where every move counts, and strategic thinking is the key to victory. Welcome to “TrapMove,” where the worlds of technology and board games collide, creating an experience like no other..
